Our Story
A general store again, after two centuries
The building on Main Street has kept its trade honest since 1823, when it opened as a general store for a young Tennessee town. Two hundred years and a good many chapters later, it's doing exactly that once more.
The market takes its name from Martha Dandridge Washington, the same Martha the town of Dandridge is named after. It's a fitting namesake for a shop built on the old idea of a place that carries a little of everything and knows your name while you browse.
Today it's a woman-owned corner of downtown where the shelves are stocked with goods from farms just up the road, a cafe warms the back of the house, and there's usually a cup of coffee waiting. Locals call it a gem. We'd love for you to see why.
